Scrabble word finder FAQs
How do I enter blank Scrabble tiles?+
Type ? or * for each blank tile on your rack. The solver will substitute every letter of the alphabet in that position, showing you all possible words including those that use your blanks.
How are the Scrabble scores calculated?+
Each word's score is based on standard English-language Scrabble tile values (e.g. Q=10, Z=10, X=8). The displayed score does not include board multipliers like double/triple letter or word squares, since those depend on tile placement.
Should I always play the highest-scoring word?+
Not necessarily. Board position, rack management and blocking your opponent all matter. Sometimes a slightly lower-scoring word that keeps strong tiles on your rack or blocks a triple-word square is the smarter move.
What is the highest possible Scrabble score for a single word?+
The theoretical maximum for a single play is over 1,700 points using OXYPHENBUTAZONE across multiple premium squares, though this is virtually impossible in a real game. In practice, plays above 100 points are already exceptional.
Can I use this tool during a Scrabble game?+
This is a study and practice tool. Official tournament rules prohibit electronic aids during play, but using a word finder between games is a great way to expand your vocabulary and recognise scoring patterns.
What dictionary does this solver use?+
The solver uses a comprehensive English word list suitable for Scrabble and other word games. It covers most words accepted in both TWL (North American) and SOWPODS (international) dictionaries.
